Ten years ago, red light therapy lived mostly in research labs, clinics, and a handful of elite training facilities. The science was promising, but access was limited.
Joovv set out to change that by being the first company to bring full-body red light therapy into the home.
What started as a single panel and a simple door hook has grown into a global movement, helping people bring medical-grade light therapy into their homes, gyms, clinics, and daily routines. As we approach our 10-year anniversary this month, it’s worth taking a look back at how far the category and Joovv have come.
In early 2016, Joovv launched its very first product: the Joovv Original. At the time, there was nothing else like it. It was the first full-body red light therapy system designed specifically for home use.

The idea was simple but powerful: Hang a panel on your door, stand in front of it, and give your body the same quality of red light therapy previously reserved for clinics and professional sports facilities.
The first version used red light (660nm). Soon after, Joovv introduced near-infrared light (850nm), unlocking deeper tissue benefits and expanding the range of what at-home light therapy could do.
As demand grew, so did the product line. The Joovv Mini made targeted treatments easier, while the Joovv Max brought true full-body coverage into homes around the world.
In August 2018, Joovv introduced something no one else in the category had ever done: a modular red light therapy system.

Instead of forcing people to buy a large setup upfront, Joovv made it possible to start with one panel and build over time. Want more coverage? Add another panel. Need a bigger setup later? Expand when you’re ready.
This approach made full-body light therapy more accessible and set a new standard for how premium wellness technology should scale with your needs.
In January 2019, Joovv took another big step forward with the launch of the Joovv Go, a handheld, portable red light therapy device.

For the first time, people could bring Joovv light therapy with them, whether they were traveling, training, working, or recovering on the road. The Go opened the door to a new way of using light therapy: fast, focused, and truly mobile.
October 2020 marked one of the biggest milestones in Joovv’s history.
That month, Joovv launched its Generation 3.0 modular system and the Joovv Go 2.0, bringing major upgrades not just to accessories, but to the devices themselves.
The panels and handheld device were redesigned and refined from the inside out, delivering improved performance, reliability, and a more seamless user experience.
Updated modular panels and the all-new Joovv Go 2.0
New floor stands, wall mounts, and door systems
A redesigned Mini stand and mobile setup
A new Go 2.0 charging dock
New treatment modes, including Recovery+ with pulsing light and Ambient Mode for early morning or evening use

Just as important, Joovv became the first at-home red light therapy panel company to achieve third-party medical-grade certification through Intertek, setting a new standard for safety, electrical compliance, and product quality across the industry.

It was also the moment Joovv unveiled its new logo and brand identity, reflecting how far both the company and the category had evolved.
Also in October 2020, Joovv reached another major milestone: becoming the official light therapy partner of the San Francisco 49ers.

The team installed a dedicated Joovv treatment room featuring multiple full-body systems, making red light therapy part of their daily recovery and performance routine.
What started as a small idea had now become trusted by one of the most elite organizations in professional sports.
Looking back, a few things are clear.
Red light therapy is no longer a niche idea. What was once seen as “alternative” or “woo-woo” is now embraced by wellness professionals, athletes, clinicians, and everyday people around the world.
For many, Joovv has become part of daily life, a morning ritual to energize the body, or an evening routine to unwind, recover, and reset.
And while a lot has changed over the past decade, one thing hasn’t: the belief that light is one of the most powerful tools we have to support human health.
The future is bright, and we’re just getting started.
