Organic Witch Hazel, the Value of Journaling, and the Best Way to View Your Body: Joovv AMA with Katie Dalebout

Joovv AMA with Katie Dalebout

Katie Dalebout is one of the most transparent, authentic people you'll find on the internet. Not only is she super down-to-earth, but Katie also runs the incredibly popular Wellness Wonderland blog, hosts a wildly successful podcast, and is the author of the new book, Let it Go.

As you can see, Katie is a very busy lady!  But she was gracious enough to recently participate in a Joovv AMA.  So without further ado, here are Katie's answers to your questions:

I know you love practicing yoga.  But outside of yoga, is there another health- or fitness-related activity that you hate doing, but yields really good results?

I don't believe in doing exercise you hate doing just for results. I've done intense things in the past, but they cause more stress on my body and mind than good. So I don't continue doing them. Now, I do barre, pilates, yoga, and walking!

If I opened up your fridge right now, what would I see?

A bunch of avocados, zucchinis (to make zucchini noodles with), pumpkin seed butter, cranberry kombucha, raw sauerkraut, kale, spinach, hemp seeds (are you supposed to keep those in the fridge?), gluten free bread, and baby carrots.

I absolutely love your authenticity.  But is there something you like (or enjoy)  that most people would be surprised to learn?

Yeah, I really love the musical Rent. I saw it 3 times when it was running and I was 7 the first time I saw it. So I can actually recite every single line from it because I listened to the CD so much as a kid.

It seems like public speaking has always come natural for you, even since you were really young. That’s not necessarily the case for my daughter. :)  Do you have 2-3 tips that you can recommend that will help with her fear of speaking in front of people?

It for sure comes natural for me. I thrive at being in the center of attention probably because I'm an only child that grew up constantly around adults. But I would say when it comes to public speaking, first off, prepare a bunch so you feel comfortable about what you're speaking about. Then, let everything you prepared go when you're actually speaking. Don't worry so much about saying it perfectly and trust yourself that you know the information you're speaking on.

What is your favorite skin care product?  Do you have a daily regimen that you can share?

My favorite is organic witch hazel. I dab that on an organic cotton pad and wipe it on my face in the morning. I actually don't wash my face in the mornings. Organic witch hazel is the only thing I use. In the evening, I have more of a routine. I take my eye make-up off with coconut oil and then I wash my face with hemp oil. I use some Good Medicine Beauty Lab products too, which are my favorite.

Have you  ever used red light therapy?  If so, did it work?

No, but it looks awesome!!! I don't really know what it is but I'd love to try it!!!

Congratulations on your new book Let it Out.  Can you give us a sneak peak?  What’s the big idea for your book and what do you want your readers to do after finishing it?

My book is all about journaling. It's 55 journaling exercises, or prompts, to help people get to know themselves and develop a deeper self-awareness.

What is your favorite healthy meal?  The one that always sounds good and doesn’t ever get old.

Apple dipped in nut butter with cinnamon and avocado toast. And a side of hot tea. :)

What person(s) of influence are you closely following right now?

There are a lot of people. But, Abraham-Hicks is a huge teacher for me as well as Isabel Foxen Duke and so many more.

What is the one book that you’ve recommended the most?

Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein or Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.

If you could put a billboard anywhere, what would it say and where would you put it?

I'd put it on everyone's mirror and it would say you are enough and your body is perfect as it is. Stop living your life to try to make your body wonderful. Instead, work on making your life, as a whole, wonderful.
