Without further ado, let's get Joovvin' with Drew...
What is the one fitness activity you hate doing the most, but yields the best results?
Crossfit. The high intensity is brutal and really kicks your butt. But, cross training is a great for endurance and strength building, plus the community surrounding it is amazing for support and accountability.
You’ve had the opportunity to interview some phenomenal people for your your podcast. What are 1-2 guests that really stand out?
Aubrey Marcus and Chris Powell. Aubrey is very knowledgeable and incredibly thought-provoking. Chris has such an incredible story of how he went from nothing to building his brand.
If you had to teach a class on one thing (outside of health and fitness), what would it be?
Empowering fathers to own their story.
What’s your favorite healthy, high-fat meal?
I'm a big fan of the BAE triumvirate - bacon, eggs, and avocado!
You’ve changed a lot of people’s lives through your popular coaching and training programs. Are there 1 or 2 stories that really stand out?
An amazing lady named Sue started following me while I was on my journey. She was a 62-year old widow and lost over 100 lbs following Fit2FatFit. She is an incredibly sweet woman. Another amazing story involved Reggie, who began following my 6-month transformation program just this year. He followed it to a “T” and has lost 102 lbs!
How did you first come up with the idea to go from fit to fat to fit?
I was having trouble connecting with my clients that I was training. They would constantly tell me that I didn't understand what it was like - the food addictions, the motivation, etc. And I finally realized that I didn't truly understand. The thought, "what if you got fat on purpose?" just clicked in my head; it really did feel like a calling. I even Googled it to see if it had been done. I couldn't find anything, so I decided to do it.
You’ve been using a Joovv for a few weeks now. What intrigues you most about red light therapy (photobiomodulation)?
The numerous health benefits of using red light therapy - like increased testosterone and muscle recovery - is why I’m so interested. I travel a lot, so it's been hard to use consistently, but I really enjoy using the Joovv first thing in the morning when I am home. I like to sit in front of it while I meditate in the mornings. It really helps wake me up and get my day started.
What person(s) of influence are you closely following right now?
The Rock - Such a motivational and funny guy!
Shaun T - So inspirational and is someone who really owns his story.
Brene Brown - I have been a big fan of Brene and have read several of her books. She has truly helped transform my life.
You have written a New York Times best-selling book, hosted a hit TV show, and run a popular podcast. What are 1-2 interesting facts that would be surprising for most people to learn?
I speak Portuguese fluently. I actually served an LDS mission to Brazil when I was 19.
I also don't know how to burp! I don't know what it is, but my body just doesn't do it.
